Your shadow forms the floor and the ceiling of everything you are able to accomplish through magick and visualization. In many cases, it dictates what you can and can’t accomplish through mundane effort.
Magick doesn’t ask us if we’re sure – it gives us what we call forth by the path of least resistance. If it shatters us or the path of least resistance means triggering a dopamine high through delusions, that’s exactly what will be delivered. It is up to us to remain grounded and know who we are and what we truly want when we set these things in motion.
And mind – we often figure this out as we go. The aim is not to avoid getting in over our heads. That’s inevitable. If we try to play it safe, life will upset the apple cart and we’ll have to adapt be swept away by the rising tide. This is not a call to fear or extreme cautiousness but to courage and clear thinking.
It is the point where you know yourself and you can accept things as they are without resistance – or at least meet the resistance within you with a desire transmute, evolve and overcome – that you are able to make miracles happen. Magick sparks where your imagination meets the point where your nervous system is able to expand. What you can contain you can have and you can be. What is painful without being completely overwhelming is the sweet spot – the birth pangs of the new.
No matter what you aim to achieve, you should become more whole, more alive, and more yourself in the process of attaining it. This is the best gauge of whether your work is effective – whether you are moving in the direction of a world or timeline you wish to dwell in or away from what you envision to a state of greater tension and unconsciousness. If you feel more impassioned and alive as things unfold, keep moving in that direction. If you can laugh at misfortune, what you’re manifesting is not far away.
